Christie has a predominantly family practice. In relation to children, Christie has represented unmarried fathers in securing parental rights over their children, represented minors in claims under the Inheritance (Provisions for Family and Dependants) Ordinance. She also has experience with other public and private children matters (non-relative adoption and wardship).
Christie's private client practice extends to the mental health realm. She is familiar and has experience in all aspects of the Mental Health Ordinance, notably having represented families in contested Part II applications, challenged the systemic deficiencies of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Part IIB) and conditional discharge mechanism (Part IIA). She has also represented defendants with mental issues where their fitness to stand trial are at issue, and where their mental issues form a central feature of their defence.
Apart from the above, Christie's experience in criminal practice extends to appeals, having been a Research Assistant with the Clinical Legal Education Office at the University of Hong Kong, where she regularly assists with prisoners' criminal appeals against convictions of drug, violence and white-collar crimes.
