Adrian But Adrian But
Barrister-at-Law, Sir Oswald Cheung' Chambers

Adrian graduated from the University of Hong Kong with double degrees in BSocSc(Govt&Laws) and LLB. After calling to the bar in 2011, he has a broad civil practice with a profound interests on chancery litigation and other property-related matters as highlighted below:

1. Conveyancing disputes
2. Landlord and tenant litigation
3. Trusts, contentious probate and inheritance matters
4. Compulsory land acquisitions and compensation
5. Adverse possession and land boundary problems
6. Building management disputes
7. Customary law, Small Houses and NT-related affairs
8. Just and equitable winding-up and other shareholders' remedies

Apart from his private practice, Adrian is currently appointed as an adjunct professor in the University of Hong Kong. He regularly runs lectures on various law courses, including Land Law III (Conveyancing) (in both LLB and JD programs) and Property Litigation (PCLL Elective). He has given CPD talks on topical issues, which includes the featuring of rent controls under Part IVA of Cap.7 as newly enacted in 2022.

Adrian also serves a member of the Hong Kong Bar Association' Standing Committee on Legal Education 2022.

Vivian P.Y. Chan Vivian P.Y. Chan
Barrister-at-Law, Garden Chambers

Vivian took the CPE and obtained her law degree with Manchester Metropolitan University and completed her PCLL with the University of Hong Kong. She commenced her practice as a barrister in 2018.

Drawing from experience from her commercial background, Vivian is developing a broad civil practice and has been undertaking work in land, building management, equity and trusts, probate, as well as general commercial disputes.

Vivian currently teaches part-time at both the University of Hong Kong and HKUSPACE in Land Law, Law of Torts and Civil Procedure.

Vivian Lam Vivian Lam

After obtaining her LLB at Keele University in 2009, Vivian attained her LLM from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010 and her PCLL at the University of Hong Kong in 2012. She started her practice as a barrister in 2013.

Vivian's main practice is civil litigation, focusing in matrimonial and land dispute cases. She has also been instructed in compulsory sale for redevelopment cases and rural representative election related matters.

She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.


Jolie Chao Jolie Chao
Barrister-at-Law, Selwyn Yu SC's Chambers

Jolie attained her LLB and PCLL at the University of Hong Kong in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

Since commencing practice in 2005, Jolie has extensive experience in criminal and quasi-criminal litigation. She frequently appears in all levels of criminal courts in Hong Kong, acting for the prosecution and defence side. She has appeared as junior counsel in the Court of Final Appeal in Vivien Fan & Ors v HKSAR (2011) 14 HKCFAR 641 and HKSAR v Leung Kwok Hung & Ors (2007) 10 HKCFAR 148.
Jolie has all along maintained an active civil practice focusing on personal injuries and employees' compensation, and a growing number of medical negligence. She also receives regular instructions from the Department of Justice to act for various government bodies and disciplinary forces in personal injuries, death inquests, tribunal and disciplinary matters.

Jolie served as a Deputy Magistrate from 2014 to 2018 and a Deputy Adjudicator in the Small Claims Tribunal in 2019.

She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Dr. Davy Wu Dr. Davy Wu

Davy's research interests include company law, corporate governance, and corporate rescue. He attained a doctorate degree in law from The University of Hong Kong and a master's degree in business administration from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was a member of the Advisory Group on Modernisation of Corporate Insolvency Law (appointed by the Financial Services and Treasury Bureau of the Hong Kong Government). He is a director of a professional diploma programme in insolvency for the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also an independent non-executive director of two listed companies.

Donald Hoi Tak LAI Donald Hoi Tak LAI
Solicitor, CPA, ACA, MHKSI, ACIS, ACS, CIA, CFSA, CGAP, CRMA, CFE, CAMS, LLB (1st Hon), LLM (CFL) (Distinction)

Donald is a solicitor, certified public accountant, chartered company secretary and holds various professional qualifications in accounting, auditing and compliance. Donald earned his first degree in business administration (majoring in accounting) in Canada. While working full-time, he obtained his LLB degree with first-class honours at the City University of Hong Kong and graduated from the LLM program in Corporate and Financial Laws with distinction at the University of Hong Kong. Donald started his career in a Big 4 accounting firm and then spent most of his career in a statutory body. He also had work experience in regulatory compliance in a multinational bank and private legal practice in an international law firm.

Justin Woo Justin Woo
Senior Lecturer, Department of Professional Legal Education,
The University of Hong Kong


Justin obtained his various academic qualifications from the London School of Economics (B Econ, M Econ), King's College London (LLB), the University of Hong Kong (PCLL) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (MBA). He was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and practiced as a commercial litigator in a number of leading international law firms in Hong Kong, before joining a number of leading global investment banks in Hong Kong, working in the field of regulatory legal and compliance.

Justin has also been teaching the PCLL both on a full-time and part-time basis since 2007 at the University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong, covering a number of subjects including e.g. Civil Procedure, Legal Drafting and writing, Professional Practice and Management, and Financial Regulatory Practice, to name a few.

Justin joined the Department of Professional Legal Education at the University of Hong Kong as a lecturer in 2016. He currently teaches Civil Litigation, Commercial Dispute Resolution and Professional Practice and Management for the PCLL.

Jethro Pak Jethro Pak
Barrister-at-law, Admiralty Chambers

Jethro joined the Admiralty Chambers in 2018 following completion of his pupillage with Mr John Marray, Mr Martin Wong, Mr Richard Yip and Mr Victor Gidwani.

Jethro obtained his JD and PCLL at the University of Hong Kong. During JD, he took part in the 14th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot as an oralist representing the University of Hong Kong.

Before studying Law, Jethro obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in the University of Hong Kong with First Class Honours. He was awarded Dean's Honours List twice.

Jethro is capable of rendering professional services in both English and Chinese, including the provision of legal advice, written submissions and conduct of hearings. He is developing a broad civil and criminal practice and accepts instructions in all areas of work. He has an established practice in personal injuries action.

Jethro has appeared in all levels of Court, both as sole advocate and led junior. He has also appeared in arbitration.

Jethro is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
