Presenter's Biography:

Tara was recognised by Legal 500 as a leading junior in commercial dispute resolution in 2021 and 2022. She appears regularly in the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the District Court and in arbitrations with a focus on commercial injunctions, shareholders' disputes, company, insolvency, civil fraud, trust and cross-border disputes. She also has experience in land, competition, insurance and regulatory cases. She sat as a Deputy District Judge in 2021.
She is a committee member of HK45, an active young arbitration practitioners group in Asia. She is experienced in arbitration-related Court proceedings such as stay applications and applications for interim injunctions in aid of arbitration.

Prior to joining the Bar in 2015, she was a solicitor in an international law firm specialising in commercial litigation and regulatory matters. She holds a bachelor degree in PRC laws from Peking University and has passed the PRC National Judicial Examination.



Keith is developing a broad civil practice and has a particular interest in commercial, shareholders' and trust disputes. He has appeared in the High Court as a sole advocate and led junior. Some of his recent cases involving injunctions include protecting shareholders' interest from improper allotment and breach of directors' duties; restraining share transfer and presentation of winding up petition; advising on breach of restrictive covenants in employment contracts; and asset preservation.

Prior to joining the Bar, Keith was a solicitor in an international law firm specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Associate of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators
 
Objective:

This 3-hour seminar will provide a review of the key principles and developments in the grant of injunctions in recent years. The seminar will consider a range of contexts under which injunctions are sought.

  3. Injunctions in the context of shareholders' dispute

  4. Pre-emptive injunctions

  5. Injunctions in defamation cases / winding up petition

  6. Springboard injunctions and injunctions for breach of confidence

  7. Section 21M of the High Court Ordinance

  8. Anti-suit injunctions enforcing arbitration agreements
