Presenter's Biography:

Louis focuses on a mixed practice with civil and criminal law. He has appeared in his own right in all levels of court up to the Court of First Instance.

Louis worked in multinational technology companies before joining the Bar. He was responsible for technology consulting, IT auditing and advisory. He has extensive knowledge of technology and cybersecurity. Louis was a mental health counselor as well. He has experience conducting psychological assessments and psychotherapy.
 
Objective:

The course examines the evolving relationship between intellectual property (IP) law and technology, with a focus on Hong Kong's legal framework. It addresses how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and digital platforms, challenge traditional IP principles and create new legal considerations. The course draws on global perspectives, including UK case law, to provide a comprehensive understanding of IP issues in the digital age.

    • Overview of IP law in Hong Kong: Copyright, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
    • Impact of technology on IP: AI, blockchain, IoT, and digital platforms.

  • Challenges in AI and Machine - Generated content

    • Hong Kong's approach to digital asset regulation and IP enforcement.

  • Enforcement and future trends
    • Enforcing IP rights in Hong Kong: Litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
    • Emerging trends: AI-driven IP management tools and smart contracts.
