Other than the Court of Appeal, Court of First Instance and District Court, he has also appeared in the Lands Tribunal and Building Appeal Tribunal.

Objective:

The aim of this course is to familiarize practitioners with the practice and procedures of the Lands Tribunal, which is a creature of statute established by the Lands Tribunal Ordinance (Cap. 17) and governed by the Lands Tribunal Rules (Cap. 17A). The Lands Tribunal deals with many land or property related cases which, in the right situations and depending on the objectives of the litigant, may be an attractive alternative to the courts for litigating disputes.

Participants of the course will be able to grasp the advantages, peculiarities, as well as limits, of the Lands Tribunal. Comparisons will be made between the Lands Tribunal's procedures and those of the courts to highlight similarities and differences, so that practitioners will be better able to choose between the Lands Tribunal and the courts when commencing claims and also to better utilize the procedures to their clients' advantages when litigating before the Lands Tribunal.

Outline:

The course will touch on the following topics:
  1. Composition of the Lands Tribunal
  2. Jurisdiction of the Lands Tribunal
  3. Overview of the types of cases dealt with in the Lands Tribunal
  4. Procedure in the Lands Tribunal
